MOT Testing

Is your vehicle 3 years or older? Maybe an upto 7 year old plate Used Vauxhall Corsa

If you’re lucky enough to answer no to that question, then you haven’t got to worry too much for now.

However, if your vehicle is 3 years or older then you are required by law to have your car MOT tested annually. MOT stands for ministry of transport.

New cars are generally fairly reliable and should be road safe for three years without much going wrong, but after this time period has elapsed a test must be completed every year to ensure that a vehicle meets minimum safety requirements.

The test consists of a range of thorough checks including the interior, exterior, under the vehicle and of course under the bonnet.

As the owner of a vehicle, it is your responsibility to make sure it is MOT tested once every year – if you do not then your car won’t be road legal.

When an authorised MOT tester has inspected all the necessary parts of your vehicle you will either receive a pass certificate (VT20) or a failure document (VT30).

Of course if your vehicle fails, you will need to pay for the necessary work to be done for the car to continue to be road legal.

If it passes, then there’s nothing to worry about for a year!
